For a Stronger Meredith: Elect Edward Fisher for Highway Superintendent

My name is Eddie Fisher, and I am running to be your next Town of Meredith Highway Superintendent. With a lifetime of dedicated service and hands-on experience, I am uniquely qualified to lead our highway department, ensuring our roads are safe, efficient, and well maintained for all residents.

My commitment to public service began with three years as a diesel mechanic in the U.S. Army. This experience instilled in me a disciplined approach to problem-solving, a meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure – all crucial skills for managing our town’s infrastructure.

I then dedicated 15 years to the Delaware County Department of Public Works (DPW), rising to the rank of Senior Mechanic/Working Supervisor. In this role, I gained invaluable experience in all facets of highway operations, from road construction and repair to equipment maintenance and fleet management. I’ve personally overseen projects, managed teams, and ensured the efficient use of resources, always with an eye towards delivering the best possible results for taxpayers. I understand the complexities of rural road networks, the challenges of our weather, and the importance of proactive maintenance to prevent costly repairs.

Beyond the roads, my roots in this community run deep. As an 18-year member of the Meridale Fire Department, and currently serving as Acting Fire Chief, I’ve witnessed firsthand the critical importance of well-maintained roads for emergency response and the safety of our families. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the vital connection between our highway department and the well-being of our community.

My organizational skills, honed over many years of organizing events for various organizations including my church, Dairy Fest, and motorcycle benefit rides, will be an asset in managing the highway department’s logistics, budgeting and personnel. I know how to plan, coordinate and execute, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Furthermore, as a bus driver and mechanic for the Delaware Academy school district, I understand the daily needs of our community, from safe routes for our children to reliable transportation for everyone. I am deeply invested in the safety and functionality of our town’s infrastructure.

If elected, I will bring:

  • Proven Leadership: My experience as a supervisor and acting fire chief demonstrates my ability to lead teams, make sound decisions, and inspire cooperation.

  • Expert Mechanical Knowledge: My background as a diesel mechanic in the Army and with the DPW means I understand our equipment inside and out, ensuring efficient maintenance and smart purchasing decisions.

  • Fiscal Responsibility: I will prioritize prudent financial management, seeking the most cost-effective solutions for our town while never compromising on quality or safety.

  • Community-Focused Approach: I will listen to your concerns, be responsive to your needs, and work tirelessly to ensure our roads meet the highest standards for all residents.

  • Dedication to Safety: As a first responder, safety is always my top priority. I will ensure our roads are safe for drivers, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles.

I am not just running for a position; I am running to serve the community I love. My extensive experience, combined with my deep commitment to Meredith, makes me the ideal candidate to lead our highway department into the future. I ask for your vote and your trust. Together, we can ensure a stronger, safer Meredith.

Thank you.
