Re-Elect Dave Briggs for Meredith Town Council

My family and I have been residents of East Meredith, a hamlet of the Town of Meredith, since 1982. I have been a member of the East Meredith Fire Department since 1974 and have been serving the community as the Fire Chief for the past 26 years. Two years ago, I was appointed as a Delaware County Deputy Emergency Fire Coordinator. I have been serving on the Meredith town board for the last 5 years after retiring from the New York State Department of Transportation as a highway maintenance supervisor.

After joining the town board, I was appointed by Town Supervisor Jim Ellis to the highway and building and grounds committees. My experience in highway maintenance supervision, team management, knowledge of construction and leadership of the East Meredith Fire Department have helped to keep our roads safe and our buildings well maintained with immediate response to emergencies in our rural community and beyond, ensuring enhanced quality of life for our residents.

Highway Committee accomplishments and plans include:

  • Upgraded and/or purchased a number of pieces of highway equipment including a new pickup with a plow and small dump truck with snow fighting equipment at the New York State bid price, saving a good amount of money.
  • Purchased an Athey force feed loader, backhoe, large loader, new large dump truck with snow fighting equipment and good used small dump truck with snow fighting equipment to ensure road and driver safety in inclement weather.
  • Continuing to update our aging fleet of large dump trucks with 2 existing trucks from 2009 and 2 others from 2011. We currently are working on state bid specs and pricing to replace another older truck.

Building and Grounds Committee accomplishments include:

  • Installed an Automatic Exportable Defibrillator (AED) in our town hall for emergency response.
  • Installed 4 security cameras on the grounds in various places to monitor our town’s assets 24/7.
  • Rcently upgraded our town hall/ court room floor with vinyl plank flooring.
  • Work is progressing to upgrade our town hall’s aged heating systems.
  • On the administrative end, we have enacted a solar law and battery energy storage system law to address evolving community needs.

I would like to continue to be involved and use my background and experience to address these most important issues regarding the safety, security and quality of life in our town. I also want to continue to give back to the community I love and where my family and I have resided for over 40 years. I would appreciate your vote on or before the general election on November 4, 2025. Thank you!
