Re-Elect James (Jim) Ellis for Town of Meredith Supervisor

James (Jim) Ellis and his family have been residents of Meredith, New York, since 1965. He has served as the town supervisor since 2013 and is seeking your continued support for his re-election this November.   During his tenure, James has been mindful of maintaining the heritage and history of Meredith, ensuring that the town remains a place where future generations, including his own sons, would want to raise their families. With over a decade of service to Meredith, Jim focuses on fiscal responsibility by ensuring that annual budget increases remain under 2%, in line with the New York State tax cap.  While other towns in New York have had to ask taxpayers to exceed the mandated tax cap, Meredith has not.  Jim has worked diligently to ensure that Meredith remains financially stable and affordable for all residents.

Jim’s role as Town Supervisor also allows him to provide fiscal oversight to the Highway Department to ensure that their annual budget is adequate to support the purchase and maintenance of capital equipment along with necessary replacement parts.  While the elected Highway Superintendent makes all decisions related to road maintenance and repair, Jim is intimately involved with critical decisions related to equipment purchases and leases, labor contract negotiations and uses of state and federally available funds.  With over 80 miles of roads, many of them being gravel, proper maintenance is critical for Meredith residents.

Additionally, Jim serves on the Delaware County Board of Supervisors as Vice Chairman and sits on the Shared Service, Planning and Recreation Committee, while also chairing the Insurance and Human Resources Committee.

Jim is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Delaware County Soil and Water Conservation District and Catskill Development Foundation.

As Jim seeks re-election, he believes that his 30 years of elected service (including school board and village trustee) shows that he is a trusted representative.   Jim remains committed to maintaining the heritage and fiscal health of Meredith, ensuring it remains the small town we love so much.
